The environmental education to local students or from other areas of Greece is among the primary goals of the NMPZ Management Agency. To this end, the Management Agency has developed an intergraded environmental education program which is implemented in the classroom, in the field or at the exhibition centre of the NMPZ. In this context the educational project, includes the following actions:

A daily training program for the children of the primary school, which is tailored to their age needs and learning level (films, tour in protected area and Exhibition Center). Moreover, at the onset of the school year, the older children have the opportunity to participate to the research activity conducted by NMPZ Management Agency by attending the excavation of the nests of the loggerhead sea turtle.

A daily training program for the children of the high school which includes guided tours for the education on the biology, ecology, protection and conservation of species and habitats in the protected area. The children have also the opportunity to do voluntary work (cleaning the habitats from garbage, improving access routes). At the end of the tour, the children are visiting the Exhibition Center and are participating to working groups regarding the problems and solutions for the protected area of NMPZ.
The program of Environmental Education of N.M.P.Z. also includes special events, with the participation of Primary and Secondary Education Offices of Zakynthos as well as schools.
The implementation of our educational program provides to the children valuable knowledge about the importance of the protected area of the National Marine Park of Zakynthos, it raises their environmental consciousness while at the same time motivates the children to actively participate in the protection and conservation of the environment.
