Public Awareness

As in 2002, an information centre in Zakynthos town is operated. The municipal cinema of Zakynthos is rented and is functioning as an information centre from 9.00 to 16.00 and 18.00 to 22.00 daily. A permanent photography exhibition and oral presentation facilities, including a video set showing documentaries and other visual material concerning the N.M.P.Z. are available to the public. Two information kiosks are operated in Lagana (Boukas) and in Vasilikos (Gerakas) in co-operation with the NGO’ “Archelon”.

Daily slide shows are performed at hotels of the Marine Park area, in co-operation with “ARCHELON” and at targeted groups (schools, associations…).
Furthermore, information to the visitors is also given “in situ” through oral information (wardens) and through written information (leaflets, posters). Various activities concerning the dissemination of information (eg handing out of NMPZ leaflets), is also carried out by the glass bottom boat operators and the local tour-operators (on-going process during the summer season).
