Delineation of the Marine Area of the Park in 2003

The buoys that were removed in October 2002 were reinstalled at the beginning of June 2003 (A zone).

In June-July 2003, the installation of buoys systems was completed in all the NMPZ’ marine zones. The total of installed buoys is presented in the following table:

Regarding the different works needed for the delineation of the marine area (reinstallation, installation of complementary buoys system), a company specialized in under-marine works (Prodive) was hired by the NMPZ’ Management Agency. A boat (17 meters length) equipped with a manual derrick as well as diving team was provided by the aforementioned company.

For each buoys, the geographical co-ordinates were taken using a GPS system and a stainless steel wire rope was fixed to the concrete block in order to avoid possible loss due to external intervention and bad weather. The geographical co-ordinates were written into the GIS –Arcview software and hard-copy maps were printed.
